I Gotta Go Washroom!

Posted by Janice On November - 30 - 2004

!@(42days.gif popimg: “42 Days”)I quickly learned today that drinking 32 oz of water and then holding it for an hour and a half isn’t as easy as it sounded. Yes, today was my 1st ultrasound. I also learned today that those water drinking guidelines are for people who are normally dehydrated – not for people like me who drink 20 oz of water every hour on the hour. I was in complete agony when I got onto the bed for my ultrasound – so much so that I asked the technologist how long this was going to take ’cause I REALLY had to go. She squeezed the cold ultrasound gel onto my tummy, then placed the magic wand on my tummy (ok – so it’s actually called the ultrasound head, it still looks like a magic wand to me). She looked into the monitor and said “Holy cow – yeah, you better go pee – I can’t see anything through your bladder!” So off I went with a cup in my hand to go pee, determined not to fill the cup any more than she had instructed me too. When I got back we started the procedure again – she still couldn’t see anything! So off I went to pee some more! Damn! If only I’d known that I could have kept peeing the 1st time – do you know how hard it is to stop mid-pee when your bladder is so full that you can actually feel your kidneys backing up?

FINALLY! I had pee’ed enough for her to get a clear image. She flipped the wand from side to side of my no-longer bloated belly, stopping every once in awhile for a closer look. She hmm’ed and haw’ed until finally she was done. Then she went to the waiting room and got Cosmo Boy who was eagerly waiting for this moment. Once they returned, she turned the screen to face us, and there it was – our baby – a small grey blob in the middle of a big black hole. And the heart was fluttering away, right where it’s supposed to be – in the middle of the small grey blob. She then measured the blob (crown to rump) – it was 2.3 cm. Holy crap! We’re 9 weeks – not 8! (No wonder my pants are getting a bit tight). This is FANTASTIC news – as it means one less week of work this summer! Yay! But sorry folks, no pictures – apparently they don’t tape this one ’cause there isn’t much to see – but the next one? You better believe I’m going to make sure I get a picture and a video to share with y’all!

Double Trouble

Posted by Janice On November - 29 - 2004

While America was delivering turkey sandwiches to their holiday guests, actress, Julia Fiona Roberts and cinematographer, Danny Moder were preparing to deliver an even more delicious gift for which their families will be grateful, forever. At around 3am on Sunday morning, November 28th 2004, Roberts and her husband, Moder became parents to a baby boy named Phinnaeus Walter Moder and a little girl named Hazel Patricia Moder. Link

Congrats to Julia & Danny, however I have one question – why on earth would you name your kid Phinnaeus or even Hazel? The only Phinnaeus I’ve ever heard of was Phinnaeus Gage who had a four-foot projectile enter his left cheek, then pass through the top of his head, only to have it land several feet away then lived to tell about it. TRUE STORY – I’m not capable of making shit like that up.

Pub Update

Posted by Janice On November - 29 - 2004

Apparently my boss didn’t get my resignation letter… Someone took it out of the till and threw it out! Arrgh! this means I’ll have to work yet ANOTHER week there. Tonight I’m working and will include my letter in with my cash out. I guess I wouldn’t be in this mess if I just had the balls to tell him myself. But he’s such an awesome boss! On my last shift he made the cooks make a special dinner for me and even gave me a piece of pecan pie afterwards! He wanted to make sure that me and baby were properly cared for – how sweet is that? Man – I really hate having to quit there – but I know it’s for the best.

Busy Doing Nothing

Posted by Janice On November - 28 - 2004

Today I spent the whole day doing nothing. Nothing except fixing up my old site. First I moved my old blog to a new directory, then I installed wordpress in order to begin re-inventing that site as my “business site”. I’ve signed up a few clients for web-design and hosting, but until recently I hadn’t bothered to take the time to set up my own site advertising my services. Since Cosmo Boy had to go into the office today, and I had absolutely no where to go (and no car to get there either), I plunked myself down infront of the ‘puter and started working away. I’d show you my old site, but then my work friends could find the “new” me. But if you ask nicely I may just share my old site with you…

Wow! That Was Generous!

Posted by Janice On November - 28 - 2004

Being born and raised in Malvern, a suburb of Scarborough – any and all news about Malvern catches my eye. Although Scarborough isn’t exactly the classiest city, Malvern is considered the Achilles heel of it. No joke.

As his fellow Americans throughout the United States celebrated Thanksgiving with turkey and football games, the 27-year-old Florida native (Vince Carter) braved freezing temperatures and snow squalls at Malvern’s Wickson Trail Park yesterday where he dedicated the opening of an new children’s playground. Link

Thanks to a very generous donation made by Vince Carter of the Toronto Raptors (who, BTW isn’t even from Canada – he’s from Florida), the school that I went to as a child has received a new $100,000.00 playground. Hmmm, I hate to sound negative, but I wonder how long it’ll be until the new playground is covered in graffiti, or becomes the new meeting place of the “Malvern Posse”.

About Me

This blog is about me – Janice, a wife, mother, employee, runner, softball player, internet addict and a completely obsessed New Kids On The Block fan. My blog title is about my running, as at the time this blog began back in 2004 I was a running mother-to-be, training for a 1/2 marathon. Part way through the pregnancy running became too uncomfortable for me leading me to slowly back off on my running. Now a days “Mom On The Run” is a reflection of how busy life has become caring for 2 completely adorable, yet “spirited” little girls while my hubby travels A LOT for business, though I do still run on occasion.
