Today – Aug 31st, 2005 – is . What is BlogDay?

In one long moment on August 31st, bloggers from all over the world will post a recommendation of 5 new Blogs, preferably, blogs different from their own culture, point of view and attitude. On this day, blog surfers will find themselves leaping and discovering new, unknown Blogs, celebrating the discovery of new people and new bloggers.

Allright – I’ll play. Here are the 5 blogs that I reccommend:

1. Chelein – because it was through her site that I discovered BlogDay
2. Revenge of Bridezilla – she’s one of my bestest friends (she was my Maid of Honour and I’ll be her’s in September 2006)
3. Greatest Oma – my mom – so I have to pimp her blog
4. Ebony Mommy – I discovered this site through Blog Explosion last week – from the US South her heritage is far different from mine and she’s very funny!
5. Debaucherous and Disshevelled – Kristen had a baby 2 weeks ago – I love reading about other people’s trials and tribulations with their new little ones – it’s not that I’m sadistic, it’s just that I like to know that I’m not the only one confused about this whole motherhood thing.

Her daddy insisted that she couldn’t stay home all winter without a car. He was a man on a mission today – he was not going to come home until he bought one for himself so he could give Sierra his. Mission accomplished! Now Sierra has her own Cerise Red Hyundai Santa Fe (and a chauffeur) while daddy has a Black 4-door Hyundai Accent. She told me that now all she needs is a raise in her allowance so that she can take mommy shopping – atta girl!

!@(DCP_0005.jpg popimg: “Sierra”)Yep – Sierra now weighs in the double digits! At her Dr’s appointment yesterday she weighed in at a whopping 10 lbs 14 oz! She’s a big girl now – so big that last night she – OMG! – Slept through the night! A whole 12 hours straight. Someone once told me that 10 lbs was like a magic # – once their kids weighed 10 lbs they began to sleep through the night. I never beleived them. But over the past month she’s been sleeping longer and longer – usually only requiring one feed in the night – but last night was the best – a whole 12 hours straight. I’d be well rested, only I kept waking up to check on her ’cause she hadn’t gotten up yet… Ahhhh – the life of a mom!

Sierra is grounded – no TV! One week! (Just call me the TV Nazi).

Ok – so she doesn’t watch TV yet – but when is it ok to begin disciplining them? ‘Cause today she totally deserved it. First she bit my nipple with her gums. I yelled “ouch” and she turned to me and gave me the cutest gummy smile. I quickly forgave her. Then later in the day she threw a temper tantrum while we were at FabricLand (to buy some fabric to make a wrap sling – I found a great website that teaches you how to wear your cranky kids). Seriously – my two month old threw a tantrum! She began crying in her carseat in her “travel system” stroller. When I picked her up she began to pound my chest with her tiny little hands! After a few minutes she calmed down and fell back asleep. She got her way and mommy put her on her tummy in the stroller, ‘causing me to have to walk all the way home pushing her stroller with one hand and carrying her useless carseat with the other. So tonight when Cosmo Boy came home I told him not to let Sierra watch TV ’cause she’s grounded (I would have made her sit on the “naughty step” only she can’t sit yet…).

Yesterday, my neighbour (whom I go for a walk with every morning and has a 6 month old darling son) and I were talking about our newest favourite subjects: motherhood, pregnancy and labour/delivery. Since we rarely travel more than a km from home, what else is there to chat about? Anyways, we got to talking about all the things that come with motherhood that our mothers, and friends who are mothers never told us about. Being a good little blogger I’ve decided to share some of these secrets with the blogging world:
