!@(gotmilk7pu.jpg popimg: “Got Milk?”)A girlfriend asked me 3 months if I was planning on extended nursing – that is, nursing before & after work, maybe even expressing milk for her after she turns a year. If you had asked me that question 8 months ago my answer would have been – No way! But now that I’m this far in the game, and I see how much Sierra enjoys nursing, and how much it’s contributed to the bond I feel with her, my answer is different. Yep – we’re STILL nursing! Only once a day now – in the am before work. It’s my last feed to wean – I’ve tried weaning it, only Sierra seems very hesitant to let it go. Our nursing chair is in her room – so after getting her changed into her clothes for daycare, she rolls over, WALKS (did I tell you she’s walking now?) and goes to her nursing chair. She then bangs it with her hand while babbling. If I try to walk away she she screams ” Na na na na na” which seems to be her way of saying no. The funny thing is, it doesn’t seem so weird to be nursing a toddler. She’s still the same l’il Sierra to me. And after all the trouble Sierra and I experienced at the beginning of our nursing relationship, and after how hard I worked to EP for her that first month before she nursed I see nothing wrong with continuing. In fact, I’d feel guilty for weaning it. There are many moms I know who would have loved to be able to nurse their baby and couldn’t for one reason or another. And there are also many moms whose babies weaned themselves before mom was ready to let it go. So to honour them, we’ll keep nursing for as long as Sierra likes
