!@(tent.gif popimg: “Camping!”)Three months ago, my AWESOME(!) hubby agreed to go camping with our daughter, myself and three other couples & their toddlers. The three other families he’d never met – but he agreed to go anyways ‘cause he knew how badly I wanted to go and how much I love camping.  Great right?  Well now his stupid &^$*&^*’en job has gone and &*%*( ^’ed everything up.  I just found out that he has to work – Friday night/Saturday morning from 2 am until who knows when. The campsite reservations are from Friday to Sunday and the campground is a 2 hour drive away. Basically there’s no way he can make it ‘cause after going into work he’ll have to remain on call for the rest of the weekend. I promised my friends back in March that we would go. We’ve planned out all the meals, who’s going to bring what etc… So now I have to decide – do I go anyway? You know, go camping with a toddler by myself? Or do I not go and let the other couples down? Also – I have to make my decision quickly ‘cause camping is THIS weekend! What would you do?

!@(cake.jpg popimg: “Cake!”)Well it’s my birthday too! My third annual 29th to be exact (I don’t count my age in years anymore). Let’s turn back the clock a bit… 10 years ago I turned 21. I remember being ticked off that I had to work on my birthday – the nerve! I was a lifeguard at a neighbourhood pool. (I did that for a number of years). The hours were long – I worked from 10 am until 8 pm everyday all summer from about mid-June until Labour Day weekend. I hated it ‘cause I had an hour bus ride to and from work so my day was 12 hours long. Yeah, yeah – I know how hard could 10 hours of sitting in the sun be? But honestly it was boring and therefore draining. AND I had no days off to recover from hang overs! Anyways – I was pissed about working. And you know what? I’m getting freaking old! I can’t remember what I did to celebrate that birthday – or the point that I was trying to make…. I may not be wiser, but I sure am older

This blog is about me – Janice, a wife, mother, employee, runner, softball player, internet addict and a completely obsessed New Kids On The Block fan. My blog title is about my running, as at the time this blog began back in 2004 I was a running mother-to-be, training for a 1/2 marathon. Part way through the pregnancy running became too uncomfortable for me leading me to slowly back off on my running. Now a days “Mom On The Run” is a reflection of how busy life has become caring for 2 completely adorable, yet “spirited” little girls while my hubby travels A LOT for business, though I do still run on occasion.
