Facing The Book

Sorry Vox, Sorry WordPress.  I’ve found a new addiction – Facebook.  Gawd – I’ve spent an hour a night on this new addiction.  You’d think I wouldn’t have time with trying to preserve the cleanliness of a home for sale, looking after a toddler, and just plain being prego – but no – I’ve found it.  Where I found it I don’t know, but I’ve found it.  It’s kind of thrilling to see old friends and realize that they all look the same, therefore I must too.  Which really means I haven’t aged a bit since highschool    that thoguht sertainly brings a smile to my face.  Another thrill is getting messages from old highschool crushes   Ahh yes – I may have a mortgage and a student loan, but I’m still the same old Janice

GAH!!!!

For sale!

Hubby and I were all excited – a nice young couple came to see our house yesterday and really liked it. They were really serious and were contemplating making an offer. They were going to schedule a second walk through with their parents. Yadda, yadda, yadda. This morning they did a drive by. They decided they didn’t like the neighbourhood because our neighbour stores crapola between the two houses and also because three neighbours park on their lawns… F–k! When the hell is my town going to pass a by-law banning people from parking on their lawns? What a bummer. Hubby has asked our neighbour to move their crap and he was nice enough to agree (we’ll soon see if he actually does it) – but our agent is pissed about the lawn parking. I don’t blame her – but what the hell can we do about it? It’s about as unchangeable as the fact that our house is on the sidewalk side of the street, yanno?

Anyways – the couple that came through last night did have some good constructive criticism. We have a light switch that powers an electrical outlet. Currently I have nothing plugged into the outlet. However, the location of the switch leads one to believe that it would turn the upstairs lights on (a different switch does that). We also have a fan that my husband installed about 3 yrs ago in the dining room. He didn’t ground it properly, so if you flick the wall switch that it’s hooked up to you trigger the circuit breaker and the whole main floor goes dark. The couple complained to our agent that our electrical switches don’t work and our house is improperly wired. LOL! So today, my hubby took the fan down and re-installed it properly – Yay! I’ve also placed a lamp strategically hooked up to the mysterious electrical outlet, just so people can see that, yes, our house is wired properly, ya just got to flip the right f’ing switch! The next complaint they have is from the cracks in the drywall that’s occurred as a result of the house settling and drying out. We’re going to fix that tonight so that along we’ll be all set for our 2nd Open House 2-moro. Gawd – I hope we sell this place soon. Hubby is going to New York City for 4 days this week and 4 days the week after. I’m not sure I can maintain all this cleaning and tidying and de-cluttering all by my lonesome self!

Where The F! is The Toaster?

Posted by Janice On March - 16 - 2007

I came home for lunch today to let the dog out.  I was planning on having a super nutritious meal of Ego Wafles and a bowl of cereal.  My plans got a bit nixed when I couldn’t find our freaking toaster!  The microwave is gone too….  Man – I hope the house sells soon    Terry has reassured me that this newfound neatness will definitely not become a long-term habit.  Thank goodness!  I can’t find anything unless it’s lying on the floor for me to trip on!  BTW – I settled for two bowls of Honey Nut Cheerios…

View From Stairs

Gosh – I can’t believe we’re really moving! And check out that pic – my house is like a freaking museum lately! No wonder I haven’t posted in over a week! My hubby and I have a checklist before we leave the house each and every time we go out:

Lure the dog into her “house” in the basement
Windex sliding glass doors (dog “knocks” on glass to come in and mucks it all up)
Hide dirty dishes in dishwasher
Put all toilet seats down
Make sure all drapes are open
Turn on lights in darker areas of the house
Make sure beds are made
Put away all toys
Turn on classical music
Gah! We’ve only been on the market for three days and this is already killing me! I am NOT a neat person by nature. Beds should never be made – you’re just going to lie in it again, shoes belong by the front door, coffee makers belong on the counter, toys should be scattered all over the toy room for easy access etc!
Hopefully all of this work is worth it. We’ve had an agent open house and two showings so far. We have another open house on Sunday and maybe we’ll have another few showings in the mean time? We’ve priced the house to sell – a little bit below what the market value is for our neighbourhood. We hoped that being just under the $300 grand threshold would entice more people to see it – I’d rather be a bit under priced than too over priced and scaring people away from even coming to see it. I swear – once we’re in our new home I’m not moving for another 30 yrs! They’ll have to drag my retired butt out to the Old Age Home before I ever go through this again!

About Me

This blog is about me – Janice, a wife, mother, employee, runner, softball player, internet addict and a completely obsessed New Kids On The Block fan. My blog title is about my running, as at the time this blog began back in 2004 I was a running mother-to-be, training for a 1/2 marathon. Part way through the pregnancy running became too uncomfortable for me leading me to slowly back off on my running. Now a days “Mom On The Run” is a reflection of how busy life has become caring for 2 completely adorable, yet “spirited” little girls while my hubby travels A LOT for business, though I do still run on occasion.
