Let It Snow!,
originally uploaded by Just Janice.

Sierra really enloyed the snow we got this week! The look on her face seems to capture the pure joy she felt in being able to play in it. Unfortunately she’s feeling a bit “under the weather” now and can no longer enjoy the beautiful white stuff – poor thing. It’s times like this that I wish I could be sick for her.

I’m So Smart: S-M-R-T

Posted by Janice On November - 16 - 2007

Remember my post about my hips a couple of weeks ago? Well apparently it just goes to show ya that the reason I have big hips is ’cause I’m a genius!

London — Women with small waists and big hips also have big IQs, a new U.S. study has found.

A study of 16,000 women determined those with hourglass figures were more intelligent than their counterparts with round or straight bodies, The Sunday Times of London reported.

Curvier women also tended to have more intelligent children, possibly because omega3 fatty acids are stored in their hips, the British newspaper said. Skinny women, or those whose fat deposits are around their waists do not have such deposits.SOURCE

How Quickly We Forget

Posted by Janice On November - 15 - 2007

For the past two months, Baby Brooke has been doing this crazy weird daily routine. She’d be up for two hours, then sleep for 45min – 1 hr, then be up for another two hours etc…. Essentially she’d nap 4-5 times a day, making it feel like I was constantly telling Sierra to be quiet, and play quietly while mommy puts Brooke down for a nap. I was exhausted and Sierra was getting mucho jealous. Then Tuesday I had an AHA! experience. During her first afternoon nap, when Brooke cried, I left her alone for 5 min to work it out for herself instead of running right up there. I also put a CD player in her room and played a lullaby CD. Lo and behold! She napped! For 2.5 hours! Leaving me lots of time for some one on one time with Sierra – yippeee! I thought maybe it was one off situation – but it worked yesterday and today! I had totally forgotten that I had gone through the same thing with Sierra when she was a baby.

Isn’t it amazing how quickly we forget our parenting techniques? I’m sure there will be a hundred more parenting issues that I’ve passed with Sierra that I’ll have re-learn with Brooke.

Ya think? Maybe if you had gone back to sleep at 2 am instead of staying up from then on you’d be more happy and alert. SIGH!

Shhhhhh….

Posted by Janice On November - 12 - 2007

They’re both sleeping. At. The. Same. Time! This is the first time this has happened in about 2 months – well, ever since Sierra decided that napping was over rated. I *should* be sweeping, mopping, cleaning, vaccuuming, doing dishes, laundry etc…. But nah – I’m going to celebrate by blogging and watching some TLC. It’s funny I kind of feel guilty for taking a moment for myself…. Oh crap – Baby Brooke is up – I don’t feel guilty anymore.

There’s nothing worse than raiding your 2 year old’s piggie bank to get your coffee fix – can you say addicted?

About Me

This blog is about me – Janice, a wife, mother, employee, runner, softball player, internet addict and a completely obsessed New Kids On The Block fan. My blog title is about my running, as at the time this blog began back in 2004 I was a running mother-to-be, training for a 1/2 marathon. Part way through the pregnancy running became too uncomfortable for me leading me to slowly back off on my running. Now a days “Mom On The Run” is a reflection of how busy life has become caring for 2 completely adorable, yet “spirited” little girls while my hubby travels A LOT for business, though I do still run on occasion.
