Toot Toot For Mommy!

Posted by Janice On December - 30 - 2007

My friend Tracy always says this when she farts – too funny. I started doing it, and now Sierra says toot toot when she farts too. She thinks it’s hilarious.

I Love To Fart!

When I was a teenager I had horrible gas. It’s a wonder I got any dates, but I was a popular gal, never finding it hard to get a date – second dates? Now that’s where I ran into problems – I wonder why? Thankfully my husband has a bad sense of smell  My nickname in university was “pipes” ’cause I smelled like I was perpetually cleaning out my pipes. Seriously, I royally stunk for many many years. Then I got pregnant with Sierra, and as the pregnancy progressed I noticed that I farted less and less. After I had her I rarely tooted. It seems she fixed whatever the hell was wrong with my insides. I thought this is great – no more embarrassing moments in small offices at work… Then I got pregnant with Brooke. Unfortunately she broke whatever Sierra fixed and now I’m stinkier than ever. Lovely… I wonder – should we have another kid? Ya know just so I czn fix my pipes back? Or would that just make me worse?

Quick – I Have 10 Free Minutes

Posted by Janice On December - 29 - 2007

Brooke just fell asleep, and I’m due to wake Sierra up from her nap in 10 min (I know never wake a sleeping child – but this child would nap for 3 + hours if I let her, then stay up until 11 pm).

New Year’s is fast aproaching and you know what that means right? Time to make New Year’s resolutions. Yep that’s right, like everyone else I resolve to lose weight. Look over there in my sidebar… I’ve found a Wordpress plugin that displays the data submitted to Nike + from my Nike + ipod sport kit. So this coming year I reslove to truly be “Mom On The Run”. I’m gonna be a running fool, pushing my two cute little off-spring around town in my double jogging stroller. I started off yesterday by doing a 75 min walk. I had intended to walk around the neighbourhood a bit, but then they both fell asleep so I was stuck and had to keep on trucking. Another way I plan on losing my gut is by snacking only on veggies or fruits. I can eat as much as I want between meals, on the condition that it’s a fruit or a vegetable (which means I better go shopping ’cause I don’t think we have any of either in the house). I also hope to blog more, now that I have my nifty li’l laptop  Thanks honey!

Brooke sitting on her own!

In other news, Brooke has learned how to sit up on her own! Man! Life is so much easier now that she can sit and play with toys and entertain herself. I must admit, I absolutely hate the first 6 mos of babyness. The blob on the floor stage sucks royally. In a perfect world babies would come out being strong enough and alert enough to sit and play.

Rob feeding Brooke

You know what sitting up independently means? It means time for solid foods! Daddy Rob is enjoying this very much – espcially since, unlike Sierra, Brooke likes food! She loves Rice cereal, and today I introduced her to Pears. Yum, yum… I started by giving her straight rice cereal, then slowly adding some pear to it, until there was no more rice cereal and only pear. She loved it and giggled like crazy. What a totally opposite child Brooke is from Sierra. It absolutley blows my mind that these two came from the same place.

Sierra gave all of her bottles to Santa on Christmas Eve. When she awoke Tuesday morning he left her a brand new sippy cup at her place in the kitchen. She’s totally embraced the loss of bottles and has only had one meltdown over not having her precious “bubba”. Unfortunately she won’t drink milk from a cup, but I’m sure as time progresses this will change, in the mean time she’s getting her dairy from yogourt and cheese.

Oh boy – would you look at that, more than 10 min has gone by! Funny how fast time flies by when you’re having fun. Gotta go now and wake up the big one. Have a very Happy New Year!

Christmas Photos

Posted by Janice On December - 26 - 2007

As I relax with my new toy, and explore all that Windows Vista, and Windows Live have to offer, I’ve come across MSN Spaces. OK, so Spaces isn’t exactly new, but it’s new to me. Through Spaces I’ve discovered how to quickly publish photos into an online gallery, and create a really nice slideshow for displaying right here in my blog. Here’s an example:

Out of all the slideshows I’ve tried to embed into this blog, the Spaces one is the nicest. It’s simple in design and small enough to display right here (which I like).

Best Christmas Evah!

Posted by Janice On December - 25 - 2007

Merry Christmas – did Santa spoil you?  He spoiled me!  For Christmas I got the bestest Christmas gift ever – a new laptop!  I musta been a REALLY good girl this year *wink*.  I also got a Nike + ipod Running Kit, a Tommy Hilfiger sweater and blouse and that’s about it.  I swear I must own a small stock in Fisher-Price/Mattel and Leap Frog now – the girls got so many Little People that I know have a small village of them residing in my basement.

The best part of Christmas is that Santa took all of Sierra’s bottles away that she left for him on Christmas Eve and left her a brand new sippy cup!  She was generally on board with the idea, however she didn’t drink much today as a result.  I fully expect her to wake up in the night asking for a bubba, then having a major meltdown because we don’t have any.  I suspect that it won’t be long until she finds a special sippy amongst the numerous styles I’ve bought in a desperate attempt to get her to give up her bottles.  Heck – in 2 years from now I’ll be fighting to get her to give up her sippy…  Oh well – for now I’m happy to see the bottles go.  Hopefully I’ll learn from my mistakes and simply wean Brooke straight to a sippy.

How was your Christmas?  Did you get everything you asked for?

The Innocence of A Child

Posted by Janice On December - 23 - 2007

Don’t you just love the innocence of a child? A friend of Sierra’s dropped off a present for her on Friday. I gave it to her, she squealed with delight and promptly put the present under the tree. It’s the only present under the tree ’cause we decided to shock the crap outta her by placing ALL of the presents under the tree after she goes to bed Christmas Eve. The thing about this one present is that it hasn’t occurred to her that there’s a toy wrapped up in the pretty paper. To her, it’s a present, nothing more, she hasn’t ever asked to open it. I love the simplicity of that thought.

10 days ago, I took Sierra & Brooke to see Santa at the mall. Sierra was excited until she saw him – then she got scared and cried. Her tears quickly vanished when he gave her a candy cane. Then she got to tell him what she wanted for Christmas: Butterfly Slippers. That’s it, nothing more. Everytime we ask her she says the same thing. So of course, Santa has travelled far and wide to find her a pair of butterfly slippers. This is the only pair he could find:

I really hope she likes them. We ask her all sorts of things about Santa. She says he travels at night in a sleigh thats pulled by a Llama…. Ummmm… A llama? Apparently Santa and the reindeer got stuck on “Go Diego Go” and a llama helped out. So the magical christmas llama will be pulling Santa’s sleigh Christmas Eve carrying butterfly slippers to all of the nice girls and boys. Ahhh – to be a child again.

Merry Christmas everyone! (And oh yeah, don’t forget to turn off your fireplace so that Santa doesn’ get burned).

About Me

This blog is about me – Janice, a wife, mother, employee, runner, softball player, internet addict and a completely obsessed New Kids On The Block fan. My blog title is about my running, as at the time this blog began back in 2004 I was a running mother-to-be, training for a 1/2 marathon. Part way through the pregnancy running became too uncomfortable for me leading me to slowly back off on my running. Now a days “Mom On The Run” is a reflection of how busy life has become caring for 2 completely adorable, yet “spirited” little girls while my hubby travels A LOT for business, though I do still run on occasion.
