The Lunch of Champions

Posted by Janice On January - 14 - 2009

This is a bit of a follow up post to Tuesday’s post in which I attempted to motivate you to use your lunch break wisely and exercise.  The key word there was attempted

Today I persevered and headed out for a cold blustery run during my lunch. I say cold and blustery because it was -22C (-7F) with a windchill that made it feel like -29C (-20F). Yes – to quote my best friend, ‘It was buttf-cking cold out there!".  I had totally planned ahead – I brought lots of layers to wear, I made sure I had an extra change of socks and underwear, charged up my iPod, figured out how to unfreeze the iPod and even remembered the little Nike+ receiver for it. I was all set so I headed out for one of the coldest 3km runs I’ve ever done…

(I was going to show you the run profile from Nike + but it was so effing cold out that my ipod froze (literally) 3/4 of the way through my run and my run data was lost).
Hey Garmin!  Wanna send me a forerunner to test drive & review?

After my run I pulled the frozen meal I’ve had waiting for me in my work freezer for the past 3 months out and cooked it.

Arrrgh!  It smelled horrible and just didn’t look right if ya know what I mean…  Because I no longer had time to pick up a lunch I had to raid the vending machines and paid $2.75 to eat this for lunch:

missvickies product_peanutmms

I choose the peanut M&M’s because of the “protein” in them – they’re nutritious right?

Thanks for stopping by!

    That is one Hard-Core run!
With those temperatures it is absolutely wise to have the M&M and Miss Vickie’s… The temperature alone will make you burn more kcals than you took in.

I hop that the good folks at Garmin will see and respond to your request!

I know I shouldn’t laugh at other people’s misfortunes, but this was a damn funny post. It could be because profanity makes me giggle like a 9 year old. But now I am snickering over your Nike Mini Me. She keeps waving at me. Now she’s doing the robot. And riding a unicycle.

OK. Now I know what I am going to do all day.

And this is exactly why I go spinning on my lunch hour! I can’t wait for all this crap to melt so that I can take advantage of waterfront trail down the street from work and run on that.

Hahaha. I’ve opted for the p-nut MMs due to their protein source too!

Totally nutritious. You got the PEANUTS (vegetarian protein…awesome), the chocolate (antioxidants…), the COLOUR (they say you should have all the colours of the rainbow at every meal…so there you go! ;) )

About Me

This blog is about me – Janice, a wife, mother, employee, runner, softball player, internet addict and a completely obsessed New Kids On The Block fan. My blog title is about my running, as at the time this blog began back in 2004 I was a running mother-to-be, training for a 1/2 marathon. Part way through the pregnancy running became too uncomfortable for me leading me to slowly back off on my running. Now a days “Mom On The Run” is a reflection of how busy life has become caring for 2 completely adorable, yet “spirited” little girls while my hubby travels A LOT for business, though I do still run on occasion.
