Be Careful What You Wish For

Posted by Janice On April - 7 - 2009

I’ve  been absolutely dying for a day home to myself – no kids, no work, no hubby.  A day to relax and do just about nothing without being so sick that I can’t get out of bed.

I got my wish:

Mild pinkeye

That would be pink eye my dear internet friends
(aka Conjunctivitis).

I took the kids to an indoor playground on Saturday – I bet that’s where I got it.

Yesterday my eye was itchy as hell.  I rubbed it and rubbed it and rubbed it – by the end of the day it was so swollen that I could barely open it.  In the middle of the night Sierra peed the bed and came to get me – only I couldn’t open my freaking eyes.  Both were gunked right shut.  YUCK!

I went into work this morning wearing 3oo lbs of makeup to disguise my eye. I worked an hour, then left to go to a walk-in clinic.  Did you know that pink eye is highly contagious and that you should stay home when you have it?  Nice!  Thanks Dr!

So I’m home for 48 hrs on some sort of antibiotic for the eye.  The kids are at daycare, hubby is at work and I’m home alone with Molly Dog.  I’d be bored silly but my house is a mess!  Now I finally have time to clean it….

    hi Janice,
UGHHHH! We haven’t been stuck with pink eye in our family yet, and I’m knocking on wood right now!
This does remind me of one time I was camping and my eye got bitten around so many times by bugs I couldn’t open it. I was a temporary zombie cyclops! ~ Steve, the one-eyed trade show guru :)

Oh man that looks ouchy! I’ve never had it but I remember when my son caught it from Daycare once. It wasn’t pretty and he cried when he’s eyes were ‘glued’ shut because of all the gunk.

Ewww! Pink eye is NOT fun! I had it once and I hope to never have it again. I don’t know what’s worse – the pink eye or the headache that comes with it? Take care and get well soon.

Ouch :( Do you have any idea exactly what caused you to get pink eye? That way the rest of us can avoid getting it? Do you think it was because of the germs that might have been at the Playground? :(

 red eye contagious? I wonder how many people actually know that… seems odd that it’s contagious don’t you think?

About Me

This blog is about me – Janice, a wife, mother, employee, runner, softball player, internet addict and a completely obsessed New Kids On The Block fan. My blog title is about my running, as at the time this blog began back in 2004 I was a running mother-to-be, training for a 1/2 marathon. Part way through the pregnancy running became too uncomfortable for me leading me to slowly back off on my running. Now a days “Mom On The Run” is a reflection of how busy life has become caring for 2 completely adorable, yet “spirited” little girls while my hubby travels A LOT for business, though I do still run on occasion.
