It took me all day long but I figured out what contribution I could make to your post of FFAF. And it comes from a field that is near and dear to me… thermodyanmics.

Your questions is actually two fold… The first question is “How can I lose the excess weight?” and “How do I lose the excess skin” or Kangaroo Pouch. I didn’t know you were a marsupial… sure look like a mammal to me!

Breastfeeding, by far, is the best way to feed your baby. Even the formula companies will agree. However, when you breastfeed you need to consume an extra (from what I have read) 500 calories (or do you use kJ up North?) a day. No problem because if obey one of the fundamental laws of physics, energy can neither be created nor destroyed, so you make sure that your energy intake equals your energy output. If you do this, you then you will be in steady-state and your weight (theoretically) will stay the same. Aw, Screw it… count calories… make sure that you have the proper amount of energy for your level of activity including breastfeeding and stick to it. It’s science. All diets are can be reduced to this, it’s just the approach that differs.

As for the “pouch”… two things… breastfeeding will tell the Uterus to shrink faster than on its own which is one of the “pouch” contributors. The other is that your skin expanded to keep up with the baby and the skin doesn’t shrink as fast. And when you have your next kid(s), your skin remembers and will stretch easier. You can help your skin tighten faster. My lovely and talented wife is a beauty consultant and knows a thing or two about skin care. One way to firm up the skin is to use a product with retinyl palmitate (just a fancy schmancy name for Vitamin A), which is the same ingredient found in anti-aging products.
