Today my mom and I encountered the store of all stores – Build-A-Bear Workshop. While shopping at The Children’s Place, I overheard a lady ask her son if he wanted to go to the “Teddy Bear Store“. Teddy Bear Store? Where? Sign me up! My mom and I were all over that idea like two fat kids on a Krispy Kreme. So off we went to the mall directory to find the store. We scoured the whole directory and couldn’t find anything called “The Teddy Bear Store“, but we did find one called “Build-A-Bear Workshop“. So off we went to check it out.
I now have a new favourite store, and I can’t wait until the little one in my tummy is 3, so I can bring him/her there. The store is exactly as it sounds – you literally build a bear. First you start off by choosing the shell of the bear that you want (bear, doggie, kitty, bunny, moose etc… they have ’em all), then you choose if you want the bear to make a sound when you squeeze it (you can even record a personalized message), then you have your bear stuffed (to the degree of fullness that you want), then after naming your bear, and promising to love the bear forever, you choose an outfit for it (this is where the fun begins). They have everything for the bears – from hockey outfits including skates and helmets, to shoes (Skechers!), to cellphones etc… Once you’ve chosen the outfit for your bear, you then pay for your bear (not so fun for mommy and daddy, as the bears range in price from $15 – $30 + the cost of the outfit). The voyage ends when your bear is placed in his/her own carrier for the trip home (just like when you get a pet from the pet store).
I can’t wait to drag Cosmo Boy there so we can pick out a bear for our little bundle of joy!
