First off I’ll apologize ahead of time for the formatting of this post. =
I think I’ve gotten everything figured out and set up so I can post via e=
mail, with the exception of formatting, and getting the “Subscriber2″ plu=
gin to work with “wp-mail.php”. I’ll be implementing a plug-in tonight th=
at’ll remove that pesky email signature. I promise to keep updating, onl=
y I’d rather not log into www.cosmog=
rrl.com from work ’cause of my past experiences. I’ve taken the time=
to block my work’s IP address, even though WebSense blocks out the site.=
I’ve discovered that there is indeed a work around the WebSense blockin=
g. On blocked sites we can use up to an hour of “quota time” for persona=
l website surfing if we click a button.=20 I think that’s rather generous, kind and diplomatic, though I don’t rea=
lly want my work tracking the sites that I visit. =20
That said, things at work are going really well. My job responsibilities=
are a bit junior to what I was doing before and the pay is a bit less, b=
ut having a 7 minute commute to work is a nice trade-off. You can’t real=
ly put a price on time, especially with a wee one. I love my co-workers =
and I can’t foresee any major personality conflicts (unlike jobs in the p=
ast
). The only thing I don’t like is the fact that I sit at a c=
ounter near the main entrance. As people walk into the building they wal=
k right past the information counter and straight to me. Great – ask all=
your freaky questions to the new girl. I swear, like in the past, only =
the weirdos walk past information to me. You should hear the things they=
complain about! I smile, nod and listen to them, then tell them they have to go to the information desk to fi=
nd out who they should complain to. Thankfully it’s not my job to actual=
ly follow up on the weirdos. =20
Alrightie – I’ve rambled on long enough. Hopefully this post will show u=
p
Comment and let me know if it does, ok?

Google Reader that is (and well – my new job too). I spent an hour setting up my favourite MUST read blogs over the weekend and yesterday it paid off! I was able to flip through quickly a few times during the work day to get caught up on all of you. I starred posts so that I could surf over and comment tonight. Now, there’s one thing… Some of you still have your blog settings set to “Excerpt” – could you change that please? I found myself wanting to read more but couldn’t

I have this client that I did a business website for in January… We had some outstanding issues and she said that she wouldn’t pay me until the issues were resolved (information that she hadn’t provided me with to put on the site). 6 weeks later they were resolved and I invoiced her for the whole project (only $255.00) at the end of March. She told me she would pay me on April 22nd… So far I haven’t seen a dime. I sent her an invoice reminder last week. I received no response… What should I do? Should I back up her site, then pull it? I should give a written warning if I’m going to do that, right? How should I word the warning? On May 12th her account will be 45 days overdue. Should I send her an email, along with the invoice that says: “Your account is now 45 days over due. Failure to pay by May 28, 2005 will result in the termination of your website and web hosting. I hate to do that to her because she’s pretty much the only client that I’ve ever had and it would sour the relationship. But on the other hand, I prepared a quote for her for the project, she said she wanted to go ahead, she gave me all the information, I went ahead with it, and now? Nothing – no payment! I could really use that $$ towards baby stuff, especially now that I’ve been laid off – and it really sucks to be taken advantage of. I know that she’s gotten business from her site – since I set up the feedback forms, I have access to the submissions and she’s probably made about $5000.00 from it! Arrgh! I’m so mad!

I have to apologize for not responding to some commentors. You see, some of the comments are showing up as being posted by “guest”. I’ve been racking my brain out trying to figure out what’s been going on – and last night BD and I solved the problem. If you’ve signed in as “guest” on free-for-all friday, and then didn’t logout, a cookie was placed on your ‘puter. To logout you can either clear your cookies, or go here: http://www.cosmogrrl.com/wordpress/wp-login.php. Hopefully this helps!
