The Cuteness Never Ends

tow0013For as frustrating as parenthood is, there certainly are times when children make it all worth it with the funny things they say and do. Here are two of the gems Sierra came up with this week:

  • Sierra came in the washroom while I was “on the potty”. She pulled down her pants and just stood there staring at me with her pants and undies around her ankles. I asked her what she was doing and she replied with a very matter of fact voice, “Can’t you see I’m waiting?”
  • After Sierra went to the potty this morning I asked her, “Did you flush the toilet?”. She replied, “I have people for that, mommy”.

This News Is SO Awesome It Deserves A Post Of Its Own!

Breaking News…..

Sierra, my most wonderful and adorable 37 month old daughter (pictured below) is now completely, and totally potty trained!  Yes!  You read right!  She’s a big girl now and no longer wears diapers…. AT ALL!  Not in the day AND not at night either!

IMG_0062 In March Sierra came home from daycare one Wednesday and announced that she was a big girl and no longer needed to wear diapers.  Following her lead, I removed her diaper and helped her put on a pair of big girl undies.  Since that day she’s had only a few accidents.  She even travelled to Florida with us for a whole week mostly accident free!  (There was a diarrhea accident at Sea World that led to me walking around the theme park in a bikini…).  A few times since then she’s woken up with a dry pull up. Each time we made a big deal out of it, hugging her congratulating her and telling her how proud of her we are.  She has now woken up 11 straight nights dry!  For the first 8 nights she was wearing a pull up.  Then on the ninth night, Rob convinced her to try wearing big girl undies to bed…  She woke up dry again!  So for the past 3 nights she’s been wearing her big girl undies.  Each night she woke up dry including last night when she woke up and began to cry because her "Dora" doll wasn’t in her bed (she was so tired at bed time that she fell asleep without her).

These "little" milestones always reminds me of how long it’s been since I first held that warm little 5lb bundle of joy and energy in my arms.  It completely blows my mind how "grown up" she’s becoming and how fast time is flying by.  Every day she becomes even more amazing and wonderful – I’m so proud of my little big girl!

I’m So Proud My Heart Might Burst

See this?  This completely wonderful and adorable little girl?  She is utterly amazing!

Why you might ask?  Because after reading three potty books at "quiet time" she decided she didn’t want to wear her diaper anymore.  So I obliged and let her wear some too big undies that I had bought for her (size 4).  They were loose enough that she could pull them up and down herself.  4 (FOUR!) times she used this:

This is awesome!  She also went all on her own!  Without me asking her, without playing around for 20 min on the potty, without numerous stall tactics that lead her to wet her pants  She stopped playing, said "I have to poo", went over to it, pulled her undies down, lifted the seat and peed!  (She didn’t have to poo – I guess she’s still learning the sensations).  She stayed dry all day – from 2 pm until we put her to bed!  I guess I’ll forgive her for spilling the catch basin of pee all over herself as she so proudly tried to carry it to the toilet to dump it out 😉

Oh yeah, oh yeah!  Happy Potty Dance!  She’s a big girl, oh yeah!
