Changing My Blog “Voice”

** To celebrate my new theme, new voice and the future of Mom on the Run I’m giving away 5 Google Wave invites! (CLICK HERE TO ENTER) **

girlvoice As you may have noticed in my most recent blog posts: How To Use Social Networking to Boost Your Reputation, Aging Gracefully With 4 Little Steps and Want to vLog Here’s How!, I’ve had an epiphany of sorts and have decided to change my blog “voice” (aka my writing style and content). Over the past summer my online life and my personal life clashed – I didn’t take necessary steps to protect my identity and didn’t think about a twitter post I sent before clicking “Enter”. In the end it worked out in my best interest, but it served to remind me that Big Brother is always watching (and according to Google Analytics he continues to watch).

New content?
After much thought and consideration I’ve finally realized that I don’t need to take my blog down.  I just need to reconsider what my blog’s purpose is, and what I want to share, what I like to write about, and how to write about it.  You see, I have a background in Kinesiology and a certificate in Athletic Therapy – I once scored 100% on an Exercise Physiology exam – so I’m now going to use my blog to share fitness and exercise tips for busy families.  I want to inspire you and myself to be the best that we can be.  Like you, I’m a busy mom, and I have a lot of exercise knowledge that I want to share with you, so that you can make the most out of your time. I also have a keen interest in using WordPress as a Content Management System (CMS) and in the 5 years that I have been blogging with it I’ve learned a lot about how to maximize it’s flexibility.  So in the coming weeks, months and years keep watching this space for great posts about things covering topics such as: how to back up your blogs, The Pro’s and Cons of getting the H1N1 vaccine, and getting your babies to sleep through the night.

A new look?
Yes!  I’ve got a new look!  I’ve re-designed my blog theme to go along with my new voice – I felt that the previous theme focused more on me and didn’t reflect the style of posts I’m going to write.  My theme has more of a magazine style feel to it and a neutral colour scheme because the emphasis is now on my content, not on my site theme.  Many thanks goes to @sidekickgirl who designed a new blog header for me – She ROCKS!!!  AND thanks goes to Jinsona from Web2Feel for making this beautiful free theme.

Thank you to my loyal readers
I also want to thank my loyal readers who stuck by me this summer, as I have struggled to find my voice. They are:

(Mike – he has no blog but totally deserves an honourable mention because he’s stuck by me even before I had a blog and has commented on almost every single post I’ve ever written!)

So to thank them I urge you to go on and read their awesome blogs because they have obviously found their voices and are inspiring me to find mine!
