Daddy Is A Slot Jockey

Wow!  Spring is certainly in the air – FINALLY!  The weather this weekend was fantastic!  Great for tiring little kids out with trips to the park and playing with their doll strollers together on the driveway.  Sleep, glorious sleep!  They both (yes both!) slept through the night Saturday – too bad I was up late playing with WordPress plugins – working on http://www.biglistofgiveaways.com .

Am I getting old?  I set out to write about everything we did this weekend… But I can’t remember what the shit we did.  I’m suffering from CRS (can’t remember shit) already!  I’m not even mid-30, yet…

Saturday evening Hubby went to Moe’s (short for Mohawk Racetrack and Casino) to watch some Kentucky Derby prep races (he’s a HUGE horse racing fan).  We call it Moe’s ’cause it would be pretty bad if the kids went to daycare talking about daddy going to Mohawk and playing the slots.  Not that he goes that often, but yanno how it is.  Kids start talking about it and people assume it happens all the time.

Originally I thought Hubby was going to Joe’s (Shoeless Joe’s is a sports bar down the street from our house).  Sierra asked where daddy was and I replied that he was at his friend Joe’s house (explaining why daddy went out to dinner by himself is not a conversation I wanted to get into).  Sierra got a little confused because she went on a tangent about how Jordan and Jon were Mommy’s friends.  At first I was confused – then it dawned on me: Joey McIntyre is a member of New Kids on The Block, so are Jordan and Jonathan Knight.  Most normal people have desktop backgrounds of their kids, their pets, or a sunny oasis – not me.  I have the NKOTB as my desktop background, Sierra’s calls them “Mommy’s Friends”.  Most normal people have “REAL” friends, not me I have the NKOTB and my 3 yr old can name every one of them.

Did I tell you I’m going to their concert in 2 weeks from now?  I can’t wait.

Oh yeah – the point of my post….

Sunday my parents came over in the afternoon and watched the kids while hubby and went on a real live date!  Dinner and a movie (we saw Slum Dog Millionaire).  I even wore my hair down and did my make-up!  It was great – the food at Mexicali Rosa’s was awesome and the movie was fantastic too!

How was your weekend?

It seems every time Opa and I babysit, the kids sleep through the night! Makes this Oma feel great! (Or maybe it was the kahlua I put in their chocolate milk) Just kidding! We had a lot of fun with them and they were so good and ate so well even though I cooked! LOL

My three year old thinks the New Kids are my friends, too. And instead of insisting on the Little Mermaid soundtrack, she insists on listening to them in the car – God I love her! I will be heading to the concert in London, too. My friend and I are from Detroit, we will be taking our passports along to visit my “friends”! Can’t wait! Oh, somehow I found your blog from a link from the NKOTB site. I’ve been reading since around Christmas time.

Well my weekend wasn’t very exciting because my husband (zendad.net) was working. I will have to get some tips from you on how to get a date night with your husband (wait I mean my husband LOL). My husband and I haven’t had a date night in 4 years. Not that I can remember anyhow.
