!@(tent.gif popimg: “Camping!”)Three months ago, my AWESOME(!) hubby agreed to go camping with our daughter, myself and three other couples & their toddlers. The three other families he’d never met – but he agreed to go anyways ‘cause he knew how badly I wanted to go and how much I love camping.  Great right?  Well now his stupid &^$*&^*’en job has gone and &*%*( ^’ed everything up.  I just found out that he has to work – Friday night/Saturday morning from 2 am until who knows when. The campsite reservations are from Friday to Sunday and the campground is a 2 hour drive away. Basically there’s no way he can make it ‘cause after going into work he’ll have to remain on call for the rest of the weekend. I promised my friends back in March that we would go. We’ve planned out all the meals, who’s going to bring what etc… So now I have to decide – do I go anyway? You know, go camping with a toddler by myself? Or do I not go and let the other couples down? Also – I have to make my decision quickly ‘cause camping is THIS weekend! What would you do?

I SAY GO AND HAVE A GREAT TIME. YOU MADE COMMITTMENTS TO THE OTHER COUPLES WHO ARE DEPENDING ON YOU TO BRING EVERYTHING YOU SAID YOU WOULD… IF YOU DITCH NOW IT WILL MESS UP THEIR PLANS AS WELL. YOU AND SIERRA WILL BE FINE, THEN YOU LET COSMOBOY KNOW HOW MUCH FUN YOU HAD WHEN YOU GET BACK AND LET HIM MAKE IT UP TO YOU FOR MESSING UP YOUR ORIGINAL PLANS ANYWAY.
I’d go, and maybe Cosmoboy c ould meet you up there for Saturday night? you will be home with Sierra on your lonesome regardless so why not do something fun right?
As a woman who has actually gone camping by herself with a toddler I too say GO. The great outdoors knocks them out. AND the other children will help to entertain her.
But DO NOT think of this as a break. Because you too will be knocked out by the end of the weekend.
