I waited anxiously ALL summer for it! Actually truth be told, I’ve waited for 13, maybe 14 yrs for it to return. I even missed softball for it!! (Nah – kidding, I couldn’t get a sitter and Rob is in New York.) What is it? Are you out of the loop?
Don’t you just love that theme song? Doesn’t hearing it bring you back to high school? Chattering away with your friends excitedly over what’s going to happen tonight on 90210? What’s that psycho Emily Valentine going to do to Brandon? Will Brandon and Kelly get back together?
Last night I made the kids good and tired by playing with them outside for an hour after dinner. My plan worked and they were both snug in their little beds by 9 pm – in time for me to tune to Global Saskatchewan to watch the 2 hr Premiere.
Q: Was it worth it?
A: Yes and No.
Yes because Jenny Garth is still on the show as Kelly. She’s now the Guidance Counselor at good ol’ West Beverly. She has a 4 yr old son and seems to be a single parent. I’m sure there will be more story line developed regarding that – hopefully involving cuties Brandon, Dylan or even (Grant Show’s character), remember she briefly had an interest in him and thus leading to the Melrose Place spin-off. Shannon Doherty even made a very brief appearance as Brenda. I love, love, love her – some of her snide comments in the original 90210 were priceless!
Yes because Rob Estes is the father, Harry. Gosh, he’s some serious eye candy – yum yum! I’ll be back watching every Tuesday night just for him
No because the show is a total rip off of Degrassi The Next Generation, only no where near as edgy. If you haven’t watched it I urge you to!
No because the characters look far too alike – I had a hard time following the episode because I couldn’t keep a few of the teenaged male leads straight in my head.
No because I didn’t feel that there was much chemistry between the actors – not like the chemistry I felt between Summer and Seth on OC. They made me honestly believe they were made for each other.
No because there was far too much plot and not enough character development. The show moved too fast, and maybe that’s why I didn’t feel any chemistry between the actors?
I’m not pretending to be a big TV critic – you all know that I have SO much free time to watch and analyze TV shows…. (Well, unless it’s on Treehouse…). This is just my two cents worth. What did you think? Did you watch it? Did you enjoy it? Will you watch it again?
EDIT – Mike, Yes! There is some older female eye candy: Lori Loughlin!
PS – I’m going to now begin to copy A Viking Running and leave what he calls an ORN (Obligatory Running Note) with each of my posts as I strive to Lose The Buddha:

We downloaded it – I haven’t seen it yet but looking forward to it.
I love the ORN–I need to do that! I’m likely going to steal it too…
much more than a moms last blog post..Hey look guys…I have a blog!
Well thank you very much! Not bad to look at, but I won’t give up sleep just to see her on TV. (My wife looks much better … and no she doesn’t ever read this)
How farging young are you!!!???!!! When that show was first on, my teen son was watching it, not me. I don’t think I ever saw an entire episode, just caught snippets here and there while he’d watch tv and I’d listen to music with the head phones on (and it was before my daughter was born – or close to the same time).
I won’t be watching it…. or Degrassi. I just have too little patience for much tv these days unless it’s something like Hell’s Kitchen or The Office (which should be coming on soon).

I would like to see it! I am sure CW will re-run it. I never saw the old show. But sad that all teen actors start to look alike!
