Five Months

!@(Dcp_0018.jpg popimg: “Feed Me!”)Dear Sierra,

Wow! Your 5 months old today! You are simply amazing – Dady and I fall more in love with you each and every day. This past month you’ve been undergoing some major changes. Changes in physical development, social development and temperment. You are WAY happier now ’cause there are so many more things you can do! Last Thursday you began reaching out for, and grabbing (grabbing!) the toys dangling from your playmat! (I’ll have to post a video of it). You’ve been trying to roll from your back to your tummy for 2 weeks now, though you haven’t quite learned that your outstretched arm on the side your rolling towards is whats preventing you from rolling. You try and try and then cry in frustration. I’ve tried moving your arm for you, but you just move it back. You’ve also began to razz when your happy.

Last week, you and I began Mother Goose, a parent-child program that teaches parents how to interact with their babies through songs. You absolutely love it! And so do I – I love being able to make you happy by singing to you (though if you knew anything about music you would scream, run and hide whenever I started to sing, so thankfully you don’t). Yesterday at the Dr’s office I was able to entertain you by singing to you for 35 minutes!

4 days ago I began to introduce rice cereal to you. You had been not sleeping well or feeding well all week, so I thought you needed more food. You don’t really – I’ve finally come to realize that you don’t need to be fed as often as I thought you did. However – you loved being fed! You were smiling and grinning – you thought it was a great game – too bad you haven’t figured out that you’re supposed to swallow the food…

This coming month will be exciting – your Oma will be staying a few days with us, we’ll continue Mother Goose and feeding you cereal. At the end of the month you’ll begin swimming lessons with your daddy. He’s looking forward to it very much and truth be told – I can’t wait to watch you two bond at the pool. We’re also going for our 1st annual family Christmas photo this month. The only downside this month is it’s time again for your second round of immunizations icon cry Five Months hopefully you’ll handle it better than last time icon smile Five Months .

I love you Sierra!

Love,
Mommy

aww What a beautiful letter! Becca & I participated in Mother Goose too! We still sing the songs and she totally loves it! Becca also started swimming at 6 months and now she thinks she is a fish! Swimming with Daddy should be tons of fun for Sierra!

Aww – how sweet is that? So, while you were entertaining Sierra with your singing at the Doctor’s office, were the other patients there entertained as well? Or, did you clear out the waiting room? Anyone who’s heard my daughter sing will know what I’m talking about. She’s just like her Dad, can’t carry a tune at all!
I am so looking forward to spending some more time with both you and Sierra.
Soon, Sierra will be rolling over, then creeping or crawling and before you know it, she’ll be walking! The rate of development now will be astounding. She’ll be reaching new milestones all the time. Such a good time in her life for you to be able to be with her all the time, celebrating and relishing all these precious moments.
I love this letter, Marie – you need to print out all the letters you’ve written Sierra and put them in some kind of scrap book. I’m sure she will enjoy reading them some day.
Hmm, this gives me an idea. I should sit down and write a letter to Sierra as well and tell her how much joy she gives us all.
I love you Sierra! Happy 5th month day!
    All my love, Oma

Hi Marie! I saw your bid for my rental spot on BlogExplosion, but unfortunately, I had promised someone else that I would rent to them. However, if you see me out there again, please bid. You have an enjoyable blog and I’d love to rent you the space!

You should check out the Ontario Early Years Centres, they’re all over Toronto.

Go to http://www.ontarioearlyyears.ca to check for locations. They provide all kinds of little programs and learning for parents and might be helpful and enjoyable for you.

No, I don’t work for them, and the cheap bastards are not paying me anything for that little recommendation.

Those letters are awesome! Thanks for a great idea! We are journalling to our baby (albeit infrequently) while in utero and plan to continue when he or she is born. I think I’ll type them too and scrapbook them…smart Oma!
