When I got a new laptop for Christmas I faced a dilemma – how do I move all of my files from my “old” computer to my new one. My “old” computer doesn’t have a CD or DVD drive, so burning files was out of the question. FTP? Sure I could do it that way – and I tried it, only it was very slow and was using up all of available space for file transfer on my website host (Hostingplex). OK – what to do? Network my computers? Nope – I’m not technically advanced enough for that. Portable USB memory? Nah – I’m too cheap to buy a portable drive.
So how did I get around this? Windows Live SkyDrive. Wow! A 5GB disc in cyberspace, and it’s yours – FREE! How cool is that? Use the upload tool and you can drag and drop all of your files to SkyDrive. But wait! It’s more than just an online storage center. You can share your files to people of your choosing through Windows Live Spaces or Windows Live Messenger. So now I can share all of our kids cute pics with my hubby when he’s travelling through Messenger.
