Knock, knock, knock…. Anyone there? Hellllloooooo…..
I’m back! Did ya miss me? Did you even notice I was gone? Probably not, eh? Oh! You want to know where I was? I was on vacation. Where? No where special just a vacation from my computer. Oh! And hubby took one too. We spent a week unplugged. It was his idea. So if you missed me – blame him! When he first suggested it, I was thinking "are you nuts? How on earth am I going to survive a whole week without my computer?", my heart began racing, my hands were all sweaty, I got the shakes…. Kidding – but for a moment I was scared and didn’t think I could make it a whole week without blogging, commenting on blogs, reading email, twittering… You know, all those things that make me feel oh-so-important-and-I-absolutely-must-do-it-otherwise-the-whole-world-will-end-dammit! But then I realized, if he can do it – then so can I!
So that’s what we did. We unplugged, packed up the kiddos, drove to Buffalo airport, hopped on a plane to Orlando and spent a week, no cell phones, no iPods, no Nike + Sport Kits and definitely no LAPTOPS in sunny Orlando, Florida! We went to Disney’s Magic Kingdom (not exactly the happiest place on earth I imagined it to be), we went to SeaWorld (TWICE), we swam, we played, we TALKED TO EACH OTHER! And you know what? The world didn’t end! I survived! And no one from my internet world missed me – but I missed you! Well…. Sort of….
It’s funny, now that I’m back I realized that something inside of me has changed. Like somewhere along the trip a light bulb turned on in my head. An "Aha!" moment occurred… I realized that there’s more to life than seeking self actualization from the web. I’m a mom! And that’s what matters most to me now. It’s what *should* matter most, but in the past few months it hasn’t. Twitter? I could careless about the chatter now. Blogs? I can stand to trim the fat and only read a select few "favourites" – currently I subscribe to 92 blogs according to Google Reader. Email? I’ll just pick up the phone and actually CALL my friends! So dear internets, if you see a lot fewer posts from me in the coming days, weeks and months, do not be alarmed! I’m going back to my life, my life unplugged and being the mom, wife and runner that I should be.

Sounds like a great week of connecting with the family!
3 cheers for that!
I will always (I think) keep my blog as a journal/diary of “me” for my kids. They should know me as more than just a mommy when they are big and all adult-like BUT I plan on printing my blog year by year so they can look at it in print because who really cares about my archives online? Really?
As for Twitter. Nope, not going there. Don’t need it.
Good for you! (And yes, I missed you!) I need to do that, but for TOP I’d have to pre-schedule everything or have someone guest post. I suppose I could though!

Of course we missed you! I so feel overwhelmed with the pressure of doing too much and have had to step back on the blogging part … a week rocks! You rock!

I missed you!!! How was your well deserved vacation? I want to hear every last detail!
Good for you!! Connecting with the family is way more important than connecting with the internet.
Nadine’s last blog post..I was the only wearing more than a bathing suit.
It’s probably a good move, but don’t be too hard on yourself.
It’s like the whole kids and tv thing… they shouldn’t watch it all day but they need a little time to tune in and turn off. Adults are no different.
I’m trying to cut back too but news/blog readers are a great way to quickly keep track of important things, not the least of which are friends.
Yes, I did wonder where you were. I’m happy to hear you had a nice trip. Myself, couldn’t last a week without the computer, wouldn’t want to. Then there’s only TV left and there’s almost nothing to see on TV.

Yeah what Nadine said!
Don’t give my wife the idea for me to be 0n-line for a week … no Ebay would kill me!
