Like A True Runner

!@(BrooksAdrenalineGTS6.jpg popimg: “Brooks Adrenaline GTS 6″)I was driving home from the Running Room after FINALLY buying myself a new pair of running shoes – mine are 2.5 years old and have seen two 1/2 marathons, a full marathon, a 5K + running through a pregnancy etc… – yep it’s about time I bought new shoes. Anyways, I saw a sign on the side of the highway that said: “Toronto 44 Km”. Like the good runner I am I thought – wow – just 2 KM further than a marathon. Then I got to thinking – if I was an elite runner, I could probably run to downtown Toronto faster than someone could drive in rush hour traffic. Unfortunately I’m not an elite runner – that run would take me just over 4 hours – well – when I was in shape that’s how long it would take me. Right now it would be closer to 5 hours.

!@(WP116_ponytail_s.jpg:R popimg: “Ponytail Hat”)Oh yeah – I almost forgot – I also indulged in a new hat - yeah it was a little pricey ($39.99) but whatever – as long as I don’t lose it I’ll probably be wearing it for the next 10 years or more. Afterall my running jacket that I pretty much wear year round is 5 years old! I LOVE running gear – that’s the one thing I hated about doing those darn 1/2 marathon clinics at the Running Room – I just wanted to buy everything in the store!

EDIT: Shite! I just checked the online store, and I could’ve gotten last year’s Brooks Adrenaline model for $29.99 less !%$@#^$^ icon cry Like A True Runner

You crazy runner you! I like that hat!! I joined a gym on Sunday and plan to get my butt in shape. Maybe this time next year I will be able to keep up wiht you in a run (you will more than likely be pregnant again of course!)

So you could jog to my house in a day then??

You are a true runner. Being here in US, most races are typically in kilometers, but everything else is described in miles. So, I think… oh… that’s a 5k or a 10k!

I have laid some some cash for running gear and the nice thing is that it LASTS! You got to be careful about the new year shoes… often last year’s “model” is just as good AND less expensive like you said!

Sooo – why don’t you return them and reorder last year’s moel online?? Just a thought.

    Yeah for new shoes!

I have been using my very expensive running gear for about7 years and it’s primarily still fine (not shoes – they’re new!) so the money youn invest is totally worth it if you’ll use it. The good stuff makes such a difference!

Well I realise that you have not been running as much, but running shoes that old? I change them frequently, but I do have a messed up back.
