Ya think? Maybe if you had gone back to sleep at 2 am instead of staying up from then on you’d be more happy and alert. SIGH!
As I wrote in yesterday’s post, Sierra took a nap yesterday. She actually had asked for one so I obliged. She slept for 2.5 hours (I woke her up at that point). She then went to bed a little bit later than normal, but not much later (9 pm). She then woke up at 10, daddy gave her some “medicine” (benadryl), cuddled her and she fell back to sleep. She woke up at 2 am and asked me for some medicine, I said “No”, but I did give her a “bubba” (bottle of milk), she tossed and turned for 45 min, then asked for water. I got her a glass, then she said she was cold. I took her to my room (which is the warmest room in the house), then Brooke woke up. Daddy cuddled with Sierra until Brooke nursed and went back to sleep. I cuddled with Sierra until 5 am. At that point she started playing and kicking me. I lost my cool and yelled at her, while daddy came to my rescue. He took her downstairs to the basement, he fell asleep on the couch while Sierra played quietly and watched TreeHouse. Brooke woke up to nurse at 6, then I went back to sleep until Brooke woke me up at 7:30. Downstairs Brooke and I crept to find Sierra playing “Old MacDonald Had A Farm” on her keyboard in daddy’s ear.
Sierra had a complete meltdown today at 4 pm over a piece of string that she couldn’t get off of a fence. I cuddled her and asked what really was the matter. She turned to me and said, “Mommy I so tired today”. LOL – go figure. I held her in my arms on the bench in front of our house until she stopped crying – she cried herself to sleep in my arms and is now having a much needed (but short) nap. (I’ll be waking her up in a few minutes).
I really don’t know what to do with Sierra – she fights naps tooth and nail, but she needs a short 1 hour nap (and I need her to take one too). Unfortunately Brooke is in high need of attention, and I don’t know what to do with her while I take the 20 min needed to unwind Sierra with books and cuddles at nap time. Bed times have been no problemo ’cause she’s so tired – but she’s pretty cranky at the end of the afternoon.
