This is my Mamavation post for Monday, November 8, 2010.
How was your week last week? Did your drink your water? Get your beauty sleep? And eat your 7-8 servings of fruits and veggies? (Remember: fruit and veggies are chock full of fiber!).
As you know, this week has been a whirlwind for our family. It started out pretty normal – me complaining that I can’t wait to get this pregnancy over with so I can run again, furiously nesting, cleaning and stocking the house with groceries and crockpot meals for us to heat up later, and ending with me relying on a stroller for support as I slowly walked the 1km around our block with a 7lb infant in the stroller!
I’m now slowly joining you in my journey back to a fit, healthy lifestyle! I started pretty much right away with the food in the hospital:
There`s a lot to be learned about portion sizes, variety and nutrition at the hospital because as bland as the food is, it`s all carefully planned out for us to meet all of our nutritional requirements.
So that’s what I’ve been trying to do – smaller portions, & lots of variety. Because I’m recovering I haven’t restricted calories, or snacks – just choosing nutritious snacks instead. Oh & lots of water! I am so thirsty!!!
I haven’t really discussed this in my posts since finding out I was pregnant in early March. Weight gain was not really something I thought much of this pregnancy – I focussed on being healthy, happy and being active. But now that my little bambino is being shared by my family, I can now discuss weight…
I started Mamavation in December 2009 – I was 136lbs, and my goal was to get to my wedding/pre-first pregnancy weight of 120lbs. I started training for a half marathon, and was 126lbs on the day we held a stick with a little “+” sign on it. At my last pre-natal appointment (the same day Amber was born) I was 150lbs – a very healthy 24lb gain. Today I stepped on the wii fit to weigh myself, find out my BMI, then play some of the balance games with my oldest daughter. My results were awesome! BUT I’m not going to tell you what they were – you have to guess in the comments below, and I’ll tell you at the end of Mamavation TV tonight (if Amber lets me come). Tee hee – this should be fun!!

Fitness Tip of The Day: Exercise at home. You’ll be more inclined to follow-through on your exercise commitment if you don’t have to drive somewhere to do your workout. Plus, you won’t waste any time on driving, parking, the locker room or waiting to use equipment. Working out at home requires very little equipment (even can be equipment-free) and is quite inexpensive.
