My house is suffering from chaos. Complete and total chaos:
Can’t
Have
Anyone
Over
Syndrome
The paper – the paper is everywhere! I dread going to get the mail each day ’cause it just means more paper for me to deal with! And dust – the dust – I can’t take it! The dust bunnies have turned into dust doggies. The other day I found Cosmo Dawg growling at my bed – I lifted the aptly named dust ruffle and there under the bed was a dust doggie nawing away on Cosmo Dawg’s rawhide bone! I took a broom (ok – it took me 10 minutes to find the broom) and hit the dust doggie over the head three times to knock it out so that Cosmo Dawg could have her bone back. When it comes to eliminating the CHAOS I don’t have any clue where to start!
!@(flyladythumb.jpg popimg: “FlyLady”)But fear no more! FlyLady is here to help! She’s teaching me to FLY (Finally Love Yourself). FlyLady dot net is a website that sends out daily reminders to help you take back control of your house. It suggests dividing your house into Zones and cleaning one zone a week in an effort to avoid the overwhelming 8 hour mega-clean done once a month (like I do). It also advocates spending 15 minutes putting out the fires in the “hotspots” in your house (for me that’s the kitchen, foyer, and living room). I’m starting out with the 31 Beginner BabySteps – today is Day 1:
Go Shine your sink: This is your first household chore. Many of you can’t understand why I want you to empty your sink of your dirty dishes and clean and shine it, when there is so much more to do. It is so simple. I want you to have a sense of accomplishment. You have struggled for years with a cluttered home and you are so beaten down. I just want to put a smile on your face. When you get up the next morning, your sink will greet you and a smile will come across your lovely face. I can’t be there to give you a big hug, but I know how good it feels to see yourself in your kitchen sink. So each morning this is my gift to you. Even though I can’t be there to pat you on the back, I want you to know that I am very proud of you.
How sad is it that I actually have to go out and buy bleach and windex in order to accomplish my first task? Arrrgh! My house is such a disaster! But thanks to FlyLady I’ll overcome this!

Great for you!
I shine my sink every night. And every morning before work.
OK, “every” may be a small exaggeration, but I really do try. And I try to follow other steps, as well. It makes a difference.
FLy Lady Rocks. Jennifer got this book for Christmas and has enjoyed it. We haven’t done everything yet, but keeping the sink clean at night and in the morning DOES help!
Don’t forget to get baking Soda, it’s cheap and is a great alternative to abrasive cleaners out there!
I’m sitting here every single day, day in, day out, and not once do I ever think of cleaning up the place. However, I may go out to make myself a tea and find myself doing the dishes or something. Or if the floor needs washing, I may decide that I have to wipe down the cupboards.
There’s really no organized way of doing things here.
Gotta love flylady- she was the beginning of my release from the chaos matrix. Who knew you could actually feel a little empowered by cleaning? I still live in fear of the paper though its gotten better but its so hard to keep on top of it.
I totally used flylady after our daughter was born! It works!

I’m a FlyLady advocate … changed our world here, big time.
It’s a great time for you to start, when Sierra is so little,
before she has Barbie shoes and Lego and dress up clothes and
everything else to organize ….
You don’t need the FLYlady when you can have me – the so-called Laundry Nazi!
