I agree. Grrr…
I hope you’re not talking about me… I linked to your site, although I didn’t tell you about it. I just figured I’d like it and link it. At some point or another I figure the people I link on my site will find out either by visiting again or they’ll see it in a technorati profile.
I don’t think I’m on your mind, since I visit your site often and comment fairly often. But I KNOW there are people that visit my site (just looking at link referrals) and maybe even have me blogrolled but I don’t visit them very often, and it bugs me. Unfortunately I’m not good at managing my time wisely so somebody is always getting left out.
Personally, I rarely ever e-mail commenters, though I try to respond to them in my comments section, and I do try to comment in their site if I get a chance to visit, but as for recipro-linking, I never do that. I only link to someone if I actually read them or have become fond of them because of their comments. But then I don’t expect someone to link to me just because I have linked to them either. I am probably representative of the worst of netiquette, but it works for me. I never mean to offend or set off someone’s pet peeve. I am sure everyone has her/his own system.
LOL! Doesn’t bother me one bit. I’m happy when I get comments but I’d hate it if people felt obligated to comment just because I commented in their blog or put up a link to their page. I want people to comment because they want to, not because of social niceties.
But I do email people that comment in my blog.
