The Road Not Taken

Yesterday’s post, along with a photo on Curator’s site had me thinking about words to live by. You know, mantra’s, kind of like the quote from Star Wars:

“Do or do not. There is no try.” -Yoda

There’s alway been one poem that has had special meaning for me. It comes from when I was making that all important decision about whether to go to University, or to College, or to do neither and just get a job (like my parents wanted me to do) . While weighing my options waiting for a University acceptance letter, I came across the poem by Robert Frost, The Road Not Taken. Now if you aren’t familiar with it, you can find the WHOLE poem here. It’s the final few lines in the poem that has been stuck in mind for years:

two roads diverged in a wood, and I —
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

Since the Robert Frost poem The Road Not Taken has been a bit of a mantra for me, I’m going to follow it’s advice. I’m going to take the road that is less travelled by – I’m going to take the chance and run the 5K, after all, I run ALMOST that far everyday now (and I’m 18 weeks pregnant) – what’s another 7 min?

  1. I love that poem…I have it framed in my house and it has definitely been what I need
sometimes to read and feel. Best of luck running…! :)

  2. Hmm … it’s 6:55 pm, and the first comment was at 6:30, yet your post itself isn’t dated until 8:03 – looks like there’s a clock that’s a bit off somewhere!

Good call on the race, if you’re into that kind of thing. Running, I mean 😛 Don’t kill yourself trying for a world’s best time and I’m sure you’ll be just fine.

  3. Of the same opinion, if I had it to do all over again; I’d tread upon the same paths taken thus far.

Good luck in your race tomorrow!

    Cheers.

  4. Good on ya mate! To answer your question, yes, I will be there Sunday March 6, right beside you! Yea – we finally get to run together. 😛

  5. I clicked over from Curator’s site and had to comment when I saw this quote. This is has been my main motto as well, even serving as my senior quote when everyone else was saying “best buds 4 eva.” Too cool to find a like minded woman.
