To Do or Not To Do…

Procrastinating – let’s be honest, we all do it. In fact, I’m procrastinating right now! There are things I tackle right away ‘cause I like doing them. For example – I love doing things at work that demonstrate my computer savvy. Spreadsheets with calculations? No problem. Mail merges? No problem. Designing and administering a database? No problem. Those things are fun! But how about being creative? Writing a formal business letter – arrgh! Writing meeting minutes – yuck yuck!

So as I sit here eating a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup, typing this and procrastinating, I wonder – what do you procrastinate about doing at work? What do you do when you’re procrastinating? I go to the bathroom, visit the vending machine, make myself a tea, , email friends, re-write my to do list, placing the thing I was supposed to be working on at the bottom of the list etc… The one thing I can’t do is visit blog sites and comment. So if you’re pissed off at me for not visiting, it’s not ‘cause I don’t want to – it’s ‘cause I have no time to – Cut me some slack! I’m the working mother of a freaking toddler (there’ll be more on the toddler thing in an upcoming post). (Actually I doread your posts, thanks to google reader – but unfortunately I’m not able to visit and comment). It’s funny how many things I can find to do when I’m procrastinating but when I’m anxiously waiting for 4:30 pm on a Friday afternoon, nothing I do seems to make the time go by fast enough!

I like to process credit reports, issue invoices & clean my desk. I don’t like making collection calls or issuing credits. I always procrastinate when I’m supposed to be doing either of those things.

Of course, being at home for the last 8 months has given me a whole new set of things to avoid doing. Laundry is at the top of that list. :)

Well for my husband, he cleans the house when he procrastinates which is good for me! I usually stare endlessly into space…and maybe drink something sweet. WOW STILL BREASTFEEDING!! THAT@S AMAZING AND GREAT!

I tend to check one more time to see if any of my RSS feeds have been changed. currently, I’m not procrastinating as much anymore, but I am multitasking fiend when I get home.

Not sure how to answer this – being a SAHM. In general, my sick brain will try and convince me to do all the quick and easy stuff first – cleaning, cook a new meal etc, BEFORE I do anything I WANT to do, or something that SHOULD be done that I haven’t done in a long time – read, scrapbook, exercise, organize papers, etc. Logic being, do all the quick and easy stuff first, so I can sit down and enjoy the stuff I really want to do, or bigger projects that need to be done. Problem is that there is ALWAYS quick and easy stuff to do. Usually, I end up spending 90% of the day just doing stuff with Konnor and the rest of the day cleaning up behind

Usually, I just surf blogs and news. If I couldn’t do that, then I’d grab a report (any ol’ report) and walk around with a really pissed look. If you look pissed or disturbed, people assume you’re thinking about work.

File under: things I learned from Seinfeld.
